I am a photographer. In my opinion I have the best job on the planet.
Is it always appreciated? No. No job is. But I don’t care. Because I know what I know and that’s all that matters.
My job has taught me so much over the decades of my shooting.
My brain works a little different than most. My brain works in moments. Nano seconds…
It works in the second of a glance, the glimpse of mischief, the giggle of a moment…..
Over the course of my life…as a photographer, I have learned to appreciate…..the MOMENTS
Life happens every single day. Some refer to it as drudgery…. I refer to it as OPPORTUNITY.
There is not a session that goes by that I don’t see someone’s vulnerability. And when I see it… I shoot!
My life is nothing without the moments!
When I grew up in a family of 5 kids, my parents had a full plate. EVERY DAY! Back then, there was no concern of happiness. Life just was…as it was.
My favorite days (though I didn’t realize it then) was when my parents said, “We’re goin’ BUMMIN’!”
“Bummin” simply meant, we are going in the car…and we will see where we end up!
I’m not going to lie. Sometimes it was REALLY BORING!! OMG…shoot me in the face, when are we going to get there??
But sometimes….JUST SOMETIMES…. we’d end up in magical places. The places of ….. the UNEXPECTED!!!
When we found those moments, it was pretty awesome. And don’t get excited…because sometimes, those places… were an amazing GARAGE SALE with FUN stuff!
The thing was…you never knew! Sometimes gold…sometimes ash… But the fun was in the adventure!
I learned a lot from my childhood. I had great parents who let us go BUMMIN!
Fast forward (100 years) and I have a job that lets me find the same discoveries….
People are fascinating. Everyone has a story. My job…is to find out THEIR STORY!
I work with some amazing people. Some are full of life, while others are a bit more reserved.
But the thing I find most fascinating, hands down… is that we are all the same.
On some level… we just want to be seen! We want to know that we matter. And as a photographer …I am here to tell you… PLAIN AND SIMPLE….

The favorite part of every session is finding out who each person is….and letting them shine. SOMETIMES BY FORCE…. but still…..
If I could leave this world tomorrow with a message for every single person, it would simply be….
YOU MATTER. YOU ARE SOMEONE SPECIAL.
I am tearing up as I write this, because I’m not sure this is where I was going when I started writing, but I see so much doubt in the world, that when I get to shoot, I feel like I am bringing life to those before me.
I don’t want to get too heavy (although I’m sure that ship has sailed). I just want to say, that I don’t care who you are. You have a purpose in this life and you are relavent and you are important.
I have documented so many, who have seen their pictures and said, “wow… I didn’t realize I could do that!”.
And I want you to know, that you CAN!
I wish we really knew how special we all are. How unique our talents. What we offer to the world.
Please don’t discount your life. You are special. You may not know why….but you are!
There are days I don’t feel like …. anything…. But I have my job. And my clients. And they remind me, that I am here… And I get to do what I do. And I get to see you. And you are pretty freakin’ Awesome! And you are not alone…..
And I’m seriously thankful for all you are!
