Last night I decided to go to the garage and practice my hip hop dance for our MV Mom crew. I can only learn by repetition and I’m very thankful to have my garage to practice, because I need a LOT of help!!!

Aspen was out there first dancing and practicing, so you can say she inspired me a bit.

When I went out to practice, I realized I look like a sloppy floppy mess. My months of stagnation have caught up with my body, and it was staring me in the face as I tried to do moves that were way slower than they will need to be.

I told Aspen I need to get into shape and I asked her to help me work out my legs a bit! (Mind you, when I went into the garage I had barely an ounce of energy to stand, let alone dance or do what Aspen was going to put me through!)

Now, to qualify a bit, our workouts with the fabulous Mookie are a bit more grueling than we are used to on a daily basis. So, to say his class is my workout for the day is an understatement. I spoke to many of the moms whose legs are so sore from jumping and bending in his class.

So when I told Aspen I wanted to work my quads and ‘hammies’ she instantly said, “Okay….we are going to do a Jordan workout!” I instantly regretted my decision to ask her for help because I knew that Jordan (beloved to the nth degree by all her students) is a twig who can do about 200 spins on a dime, while lifting her leg in a full split and I believe wrapping it around her neck in the process. I’ve seen her workout her classes and I sweat just watching!

But I’m not going to bow out in front of my kid, so let’s do this and get it over with! (be careful what you wish for).

As we started, the first thing we had to do was look for fast music. I now know that when doing squats, I’m much better with Merle Haggard tempo than Rihanna…..
But still, I did my best to keep up with the pace. I was okay for about 20 seconds until I had to take a knee….. And we hadn’t even finished with the warmup. (I’m not liking Jordan too much at this point!)

It wasn’t long before my sweet faced, pint sized child was yelling at me, “COME ON SOLDIER….YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT!!! SQUAT DEEPER!!!”

I think I had tears coming out of my eyes at one point, but I was trying so hard not to say uncle and show weakness in front of my kid.

Unfortunately, “Jordan” was more than I could take, so I begged her to dumb it down for me.

My little workout only lasted about 20 minutes and I was in full sweat.

I have a lot of work ahead of me to get to Mookie status. Aspen has offered to help me get to Jordan status in the garage which will definitely get me there! Chris has been working in the food department for me, reminding me I’m weak when making choices. And Avery….she’s ready with the hugs when I fall to the ground in tears after Aspen has her way with me.

I wanna make MV MOM crew happy this year. I’ve got the support system, I just have to keep putting them to use!!!

Mookie and Jordan…..You’re in my head…. And for that I love and hate you at the same time….. (all compliments….)

Thank you for what you do for me and my kids!!!

Happy Tuesday…..
