Already a harried morning.  I’m wrapping up some projects and realized I wasn’t even close to being done.  More pictures needed.  So I had to run off to the dance studio to take some headshots.

Part of being a dance “family” is the comfort level of all the people you spend so much time around.  So when I pulled up to the studio, I see a gaggle of kids in front of my car and as soon as they saw the camera, the hams came out.  No shyness here.  Even the boy child jumped into the group of girls.  Where there is a camera, there is no restrictions.

As long as I have a willing participant, I will shoot.

Last night while waiting for Avery to get out of class I watched her routine with her teacher, who was trying to settle the kids and get them focused.  And as she was displaying the correct move for the benefit of her class; she saw me aiming and posed for me.  I love moments like that!

I left this morning with a card full of pictures to look through and choose.  The studio can always use new material, so it’s never a waste.

Aspen is off for a full day of dance.  However, with her nose still running she didn’t pack any tissue.  I asked why not and she said, ‘Because I don’t want to blow my nose in class.”  I said, “Well, it’s going to look real pretty running down your face, isn’t it??”  I’m guessing she didn’t think that far ahead.

She’s nothing if not determined.

Avery too.  I don’t know where they get it.  Chris and I are “C” people.  We get by but I wouldn’t say we are over achievers.

This week Avery went out for Historian.  She made up a song and everything to sing to her class.

In a million years you wouldn’t see me going out for anything in my school.  I preferred to be hidden.  No attention please and thank you.

But my kids are totally different.  And I really appreciate them for that!  I’m constantly amazed at how they put themselves out there.

Avery won historian for her class; and now moves on to the school wide campaign.  If I could figure a way to throw her a million votes, I would.  But she’s on her own with this one.  I can only wish her well and help her with her campaigning.

And as for Aspen…I just hope she gets through her day.  She’s there from 9:30 to 6pm.  I may be picking up a puddle of exhaustion at the end of the day, but if I know my kid, she’ll be just fine.

Love them!

Happy Saturday!
