I see a lot of posts on Facebook of people and their travels. Always find it weird to talk to someone one morning face to face and then see their post of New York or somewhere posted on Facebook just a few hours later.
We don’t do a ton of travelling. We never really have. But I envy people who do get up and go somewhere.
I’m more of a short-term close to home day trip kind of girl. I hate flying and I have terrible anxiety, so it makes even the planning process no fun. Also, with our lives being so busy with dance and such, it’s nice to just hang at home and have nothing to do. Sometimes when I go on vacation, it seems like we have to squeeze in every last activity possible to get the most out of the location. But when I go on vacation, even if it’s in Norway, I feel like I just need a day in bed with a good book!!! I remember in 2007 I had that trip. I had a great book I was reading and I would sneak away every second I could just to get to relax. It was so nice!!
I see people in the snow this holiday! I love the snow, but I also love to come home after we play in the snow. Or just spend a night or two out and then come home.
I do have a few aspirations for travel. I have never seen New York or Hawaii!!! I’ve also always wondered about Montana and Wyoming, but I have no idea why? Maybe because of the idea of wide open spaces and horses; I’m not sure!!! But for decades I have had those two places in the back of my mind!
More often than not, when we are on ‘vacation’ (meaning time off from regular schedule), I just like to actually ‘be with’ my family. We are always passing in the night and it’s nice to actually sit and chill for a while.
This holiday we have had a few short opportunities to go see lights and just drive around a bit. My kids love hanging in the car; they are so good.
Every summer we take along car ride to Bass Lake or wherever. This last summer we did a roundabout up to Sacramento and back down the coast. It took almost 2 weeks with a few stays at places in between. The kids loved it. I loved it. It makes me so happy just to see countryside of our beautiful state!!
This holiday I’m content to stay close. We still have another week or so, so who knows if we make it to the mountains for a day? But at this time we have nothing planned. And I’m okay with that. Come January; competition time sets in and it’s gonna get crazy.
It won’t let up until July. So vegging over the holidays? I’m good with that!
Happy Saturday!
