So I decided to start my cards last night and realized the only address sheet I could find is 3 years old. If you want to know how many people move, lose your current address sheet!
I ordered plenty of cards…unfortunately, many might not find a home!
It’s only December 4th, but I find it odd that I haven’t gotten any Christmas cards yet. But then again, I’m not totally surprised. I have talked to a lot of people who are not going to be sending them. And a few said they would send them via Email.
(I’m sitting here with a sad face).
I’m going to admit something…… All my holiday cards from last year are STILL hanging on the back of my front door. Crazy I know, but most were family pictures and when the season ended, I wasn’t ready to pull them down. Then as they year progressed, I just didn’t think about it. The cards are like wallpaper on my door.
Apparently never bothered the family, because they never said a word. So there my front door sits; adorned with Christmas cards a year old.
It shouldn’t surprise you that I love pictures. I honestly admit that when I hang pictures in my house, I don’t really care. The more, the merrier. I don’t care if they are in the same frames or what. I just like seeing them. The last few times people have come and help me organize my house, they took down many of my beloved pictures and left me with only a few on my walls. And though it looks pretty, it’s not me. I like them up and everywhere. I want them all over my walls, so when I’m walking, I can take a second and look back at times I used to have.
I don’t need a model home. I want a comfy, homey home.
I laugh sometimes, because my sister and I are so different. When she had her house renovated, she had this area that was just one big huge wall space. It’s an odd space in her home, and to me, it’s almost like a museum nook. One great big canvas. She was wondering what to put up there and I said, “OMG….PICTURES!!!” After all, she does have FIVE children and only about a million memories of which to display!!!
In the end, she took that beautiful empty canvas of a wallspace…….and threw a RUG up there. Like a knife through my heart I tell ya……
But her home is way more model like than mine and I don’t have to live there, so it is what it is.
I just like to look at my memories as often as possible. Being that I have a terrible memory, my pictures help me to remember special moments.
I don’t know about you, but when I look at pictures, my heart actually connects with the moment. So I love to hang my most favorite moments on my walls. I call them ‘mental vacations’.
Maybe people dont’ connect with their pictures like I do, but they mean a lot to me. Though I like picture albums, they are put away and you have to be reminded to pull them out. I’d rather just walk by a display!!!
But to each his own.
Hopefully, I’ll find the addresses I need so I can send out the cards I have. And I will replace the cards on the back of my door one by one as I get new cards in the mail. (or shall I say, “IF” I get new cards in the mail.)
I sometimes think it’s weird to spend so much money on cards. But it is the one time of year that we connect with each other and it is nice to get pictures in your card, seeing as how it’s only once a year. And at least with me, you will get your money’s worth; because the pictures will be on display all year-long!
Happy Tuesday!
