I’m up early again, because I have another commercial shoot.  Today I’m shooting for a website and it’s a complicated set up.  Someone flew in from Denver to help out with this shoot and we will have a half-dozen people coordinating, checking, confirming and critiquing along the way.  The first time we tried this we bombed, so this morning, there is NO margin for error.

I’ve said it before, I love shooting dance!  Yesterdays shoot was pretty amazing.  We shot at a cool location in Lake Forest; The Refinery at Saddleback Church.  We had 15 dancers show up; one wardrobe person, one technical adviser, one coordinator and a stager on the side.  It was a big production.  If you think ballet poses are easy, think again!  To do the pose is great; to photograph the pose is a whole other story!  Photographs are forever.  If you have bad technique in a photograph, then forever is very very long time.

Thankfully, we had a ballet teacher to help us out.  As a photographer, not a dancer, I’m happy to get the girl in the air mid split.  However…..when photographing with a technical adviser, my happy moments turned south many many times.  Foot, not pointed, bad hands, terrible expression, poor posture, awkward altogether, you name it…..  I realized that my ability to capture them mid-air is only half the battle.  However….my technical adviser was quite impressed with my ability to capture that moment in one click.  So I’m still quite proud!!!

In the end, we got all the shots we needed, now we just have to sit down and pick out the best ones and go from there.

Today’s shoot is totally different; we are actually doing a bit of video.

As I write, I have bags under my eyes, and Starbucks isn’t just calling to me; I literally hear it SCREAMING in my ear.  That is IF I want to move forward.

We did a dry run last night.  This is a green screen shoot: where you drop out the background and just use the subject.  We have some kinks to work out this morning, so I have to leave early to set up.  I’ll be there until at least noon when I will break down go home for about an hour and then head back to the studio for Mom’s Hip Hop competition practice.

I can honestly say that my brain will be less likely to absorb anything after this morning than I would like!

All I can think about right now is my cozy bed and how it’s still warm.

This week is going to be insane.  Or shall I say it’s just another week in my life.  T’is the season, right??  I’m so tired of saying I’m tired, I dont’ know what to do with myself.

But I will trudge forward.

I’m looking forward to todays shoot.  I just hope this one goes off without a hitch.  Our approach going in is totally different, so I think we are good.  But I won’t believe it until I see the end result.

The proof is in the pudding as they say…..

Happy Sunday!
