Isn’t it interesting that at some point in  your life, you have to start seeing your friends by appointment?  Well; that’s what is happening in my life.

Everything I have done this week has been pre-determined and calendared.  How pathetic.

Or is it?

I’m constantly complaining that I can’t get things done and i need to be more organized.  But that doesn’t just go for ‘things’ in my life.  It goes for relationships too.

Life goes pretty darned fast.  And the older I get the more busy things seem to be.  If I don’t pay attention, it’s a recipe for strangers passing in the night.

It’s not just me.  Most people I know are so stretched for time that appointments are necessary.

I find it funny that when I drop the girls for dance – if I get out of my car, I usually get stopped, or stop someone and have a nice sidewalk chat.  The other day my drop off took an hour and 3 people to get back to my car.  Totally NOT complaining.  THIS is the time we have.  Stolen moments throughout the day.

But this week I had the opportunity to make a few ‘appointments’ and actually HAVE time to talk.  It was so nice to actually have time to connect with people.

It seems odd to have to put friends on the calendar, but this week I realized it was a necessary step to be able to sit and enjoy time.

The sad thing is, it left me wanting more.

I’m sure in January we will have a bit more time.  But I think it’s great to squeeze it in whenever possible.

I had a great time catching up this week.  One friend I haven’t seen in quite a while; the other, I see many times a week….for exactly a few seconds each time.

The season creeps up on us and makes us crazy.  Just yesterday I was out and I looked at the faces of the people shopping and I see it…..it’s creeping in slowly….the NASTY unhappy people are starting to come out more and more.  And it’s going to get worse through Christmas.

I’m still not done shopping.  I have foisted the rest of the list on to the hubby.  He can take care of what is left.  He can get in and out of stores and not be bothered by the crowds.

In the meantime, I’ll be making appointments with friends.  Or be happy having sidewalk chats.  I’m easy!

Happy Thursday
