So last night we had Directors showcase for dance.  The girls went over their team dances and we were out until 10pm, after which we socialized until after 11.  We got home about midnight and Aspen promptly starts sewing her pointe shoes.  It’s emphatically important that she get them done because she has dance this morning and wants to wear them.  They are brand new, and there is NOTHING better then brand new ANYTHING….so she is anxious to put them to use.

She knows if she asks me, it’s a crap shoot.  I barely got her to class last night an would have missed it altogether if the teacher didn’t text me.

I’m barely holding it together this time of years and Aspen can see that.  Because this is so important to her, she will stay up until it’s done.

As I was downloading pictures, I got a text from a girlfriend who as ALSO up at midnight baking for a bake sale.  She didn’t mean to be the only one doing it but somehow, there she was getting the job done.

Sometimes when it’s a must do, you do what you must to get things done.  There is no negotiating this.

I think it’s funny how we will let some things slide and feel useless in the mean time, but when it’s ‘go’ time; we pull it out!

We get the important things done, even though most of the times they are self imposed important things.

This morning, I started baking to add to the bake sale.  I told Chris I didn’t “have” to do it and he just looked at me and said, “Yes you do”.

I kind of laughed, because he is right.  I like baking and whenI have a purpose, I love baking.  And I have all the ingredients so it’s just a short trip to get the job done.

And what I walk away with is a sense of accomplishment for the day and the hopes that I lightened the load for someone else.  Because we have all been there before; stuck with our consequences and no way to get out!!!  What a terrible feeling!

Aspen’s pointe shoes are done.  She just burned the edges of the ribbons and she’s trying them on for me.  This is a big deal.  I may never have to sew a pair of pointe shoes again!!!

She can’t cook an egg to save her life, but she can sew a mean pointe shoe.  I don’t care what drives her, I am just proud that she cares so much about something that she is determined to make it happen!!!

Now, when I look at my list today, I will have a little more perspective on what is important and what I can get done.

A little perspective is a good thing to have!!!

Happy Saturday!!
