Well, I broke down and went to a nutritionist.  Have you ever done that?  For a while somethind hasn’t been totally right with my digestion; and I was crippled as to where to go for help.   Because if you ever noticed; whichever doctor you choose can help you!  If I go to a chiropractor; they will give me an adjustment.  If I go to an MD, they’ll write me a scrip; if I go to a gastroenterologist, they will prescribe more tests; if I go to a healer, they will do their therapy.

So the question is; which is the best choice for me???

Well; the truth is, I waited so long and tortured myself so much, I decided to go to all of them!  Well, almost all!

My chiropractor is working on my back, the doctor prescribed me meds (one of which is sitting on my counter staring at me and the other was too expensive to pick up, so I left it) and the nutritionist was going to be the home stretch to see if I could make any changes that will help me!

You have to understand; as a ‘mostly’ practicing Weight Watcher, I stand by their principles.  I love their program and feel they hit it out of the park with their well rounded approach to eating.

So when I met with this lady, I wasn’t sure what to expect, other than she would delve a bit deeper into my food choices.

When we started talking she asked my symptoms and I told her.  Mostly digestive issues (well, all of them!)  I was quite nervous and ready to be judged; or at the very least, told I was going to die soon.  Because in my mind, it can NEVER be something simple.

Our first meeting was really short.  She told me she would get back to me in a week with a ‘plan’.

Yesterday was ‘the plan’.

She sat with me and told me how each of our processes work.  Most I knew, but not to the extent that she shared.  I definitely learned a few things.

One thing she suggested mentioned was eating organ meats.  Most of us don’t partake because they aren’t readily available and it’s been frowned upon as gross.  But as she states; they aren’t any worse for us then the cow itself and in her opinion; they are better for us than the cow.

I didn’t know how true it was; but to be honest the fact that I could jump into liverwurst made me very happy!!!  I know many of you are grossed out right now, but when you grow up with something it’s just part of who you are.

Anyway, I was intrigued by what she said and I promised to follow her regime.  As she doesn’t want to bombard me with information, she just wants me to keep a food diary this week and she will further my plan from that!

At this point, I am mostly gathering information and figuring out what is best for me!  I hate prescriptions.  And though she gave me supplements, I will gladly take those over other medications that will only cause other issues down the road.

Did you know that I was prescribed something that will stop the acid forming in my stomach?  And according to the nutritionist, I don’t produce enough acid and as a result my food is not getting broken down and therefore it is rotting in my stomach and that is what is causing my problem!

She said that my body (well, my gut) needs to be healed so it can do its job.  My liver is taxed (no surprise there) my adrenals are shot and I need to calm them down so that I can start feeling better.

She was very hopeful and very positive about her program.  And because of her hope, it gave me hope myself.  For the first time in a long time, I might add.

I will do what she is asking me and I will keep you posted onmy results.  If worse comes to worst, I always have those pills sitting on my counter!

Happy Friday!
