Up at 4:30 with a spider bite. Or so I thought!
Ever have funky dreams and you aren’t sure they are real? I swear as I was laying there this morning, I felt a bite on my left leg. And all I could think about was when my friend got bit and her leg swelled up.
I shuffled the blankets around to make sure ‘if’ it was true that it was gone. But being that it was 4:30 and I thought I had a spider in my bed, I didn’t sleep well. (are you getting the heebee geebees yet?)
I hate waking up in the middle of the night.
I laughed the other day when I saw that Nyquil has a new product called zzzzzquil! I don’t know what they put in their stuff to put your to sleep, but if you have ever taken Nyquil for a cold, then you know it knocks you out….all night long!!!
I’m not a sleeping pill taker, but when I saw they had the product out, I would lie if I didn’t say it looked enticing!!!!
I good nights sleep seems to evade me. And has for about 4 decades now.
I didn’t realize it, but many of my friends have suggested Tylenol PM or other products to help sleep. Apparently, I’m not alone in this. It seems to be a growing epidemic with my age group.
But when you start taking stuff to help you sleep, it’s a slippery slope. So I tend to lean more towards herbs. Valerian root (though stinky) helps to calm me down. But there are a host of other herbal blends on the market that are pretty awesome.
However, falling asleep isn’t usually my problem, it’s staying asleep.
I wish I knew how to correct this, but alas, I think it just comes with age. I’m up this morning, but definitely not rested. As I tried to lay down and go back to sleep, I realized that if my room were cleaner, it would be harder for these little buggers to hide. And on top of that, I was picturing what kind of spider it might be. Big and hairy, or just little and black with a red mark on its back. I counted the hours to my death and even planned my services so my family wouldn’t have to.
It’s a scary place in my head. Even scarier than any arachnid.
And in the end, when I woke up this morning, there was no mark on my leg. No evidence of any creature putting its mark on me. It was all in my head.
And to that, all I can say is welcome to my world.
Happy Friday!
