Finally! December! Now I can start getting stressed. Only 24 shopping days left!!
I have a full stash of gifts with no names on them because I don’t know who I am gifting for. I feel moderately successful. Is this a good thing?
Decorations aren’t up yet, and the kids have been asking. Is December 24th too late to put them up?
I don’t mind decorating; I just don’t understand putting things up for a month just so you can pack them up again and for a whole year. So your house is basically a storage facility.
How exactly, does that make sense?
There is a house down the street that has so much stuff, I can’t imagine where they store it all?
Who started all this anyways?
Probably the same people who started black friday, I’m guessing.
But here we are. Houses full of storage that we shuffle in and out all year long. God forbid you are a non-participator. A house with no lights is like a sad house…… People drive by and they feel sorry for you.
We can’t have that.
Avery has been bugging me every day. Nobody loves Christmas more than her. Not to say Aspen doesn’t enjoy it – but she is not as into the rituals as Avery. To be honest; we probably wouldn’t put forth half the effort without her. She is a good reminder of the season. I really appreciate that about her.
I realized recently that we may have to do this in pieces. If we can’t do it all at once, then a little at a time is just fine by me.
I do love pulling into a house that is all lit up. It gets me a little happy inside. I don’t want to be one of those sad houses. (not that I judge if you don’t decorate).
The other day when we came home, Avery said, “Mom, WHEN are we gonna decorate? Even Jake has lights on his house – and he is JEWISH!”.
So I guess the precedent has been set. If Jake can do it, so can we. No matter how great or how small, it is all for the greater good of the holiday season. And my child’s happiness.
Here’s to one box at a time!
Happy Saturday
