Here we are up at 3am. It’s the Disney Annual CHOC walk. Every year our MVDPAC dance team has 100% participation in raising funds and walking. This has become an annual tradition. Approximately 100 dance team members will gather in the Downtown Disney area so we can walk in together.
It’s a pretty crazy event. I remember the first year I went, I was going to jog with the kids. Looking back I laugh. It’s called a “walk” for a reason. There are so many people and it’s all for a good cause, so walking is about as fast as you can go.
It’s a great bonding experience with so many people. Every year you meet people who have been touched by CHOC and the work they do. I was brought to tears the first year I attended because I ran into some friends who walked on behalf of a child who had passed.
I’m sure I will meet some more people with amazing stories today.
After the walk, we will go back into Disneyland and play for a while. Heck, while in Rome, right???
And then later today we will come home to the Norman P Murray center and see one of our teachers perform in a dance. It should be so much fun!
I’m really looking forward to today; spending the day with my ‘other’ family and then sharing fun experiences with not only my kids, but a few thousand others.
Today I will dedicate my walk to all the children who have struggled and healed as well as those who have passed. My heart goes out to the families who have had to enter CHOC’s doors. But on this day, I’m so grateful for CHOC hospital!!
Hug your loved ones and let them know how much they mean to you. After all….today is all we really have!
Happy Sunday!!!
